I know you were a POW at the time, but years later, my OR Senator told me he heard you say in a speech up here that it was because of what John Kerry and Jane Fonda said about our US Military that the Communist North Viet Cong (North Vietnamese) increased the torture you and your fellow POWs had to suffer!
You called John Kerry a "war hero", when he was only served 3-1/2 - 4 mos. in Viet Nam, while his fellow US Vets were required to remain there to fulfill their military tours of duty! Despite knowing the Swift Boat Vets told the truth about Kerry, and despite knowing Kerry's own US Military Surgeons who saw and took care of his "injuries" saying they believed Kerrry's "injuries" were self-inflicted, as none required surgeries, only band-aids for treatment; you initially backed Kerry, while he was trashing your own Republican US President, claiming he supposedly was a coward because he was stationed in CONUS in the Guard during the Viet Nam War, when you knew for a fact George W. military service was honorable! After allowing Kerry to trash him, suddenly you began traveling across America with George W., trying to elect him! Why?! But since his re-election you have been trashing him, yourself. So now you expect us to really believe you supposedly are a Republican, yourself? Remembering your disloyalty to my President and knowing your own past voting record, you will never convince me you are a Republican!
I'm a former US Military Dependent (a Military Wife), and if you plan to be a Commander-In-Chief of our US Military than you need to be educated about some things: all of our Military--including those serving in our State National Guard and the "shallow water boys" (US Coast Guard)--are considered "war heroes" if serving our Country during a time of war! It is virtually impossible for our servicemen and women stationed abroad in war zones to win a war without the support of our military stationed in CONUS, either assisting our military personnel abroad, or else stationed in CONUS to protect our homeland!
If you don't agree, that means our Sailors who weren't actually stationed in the Gulf area during the Gulf War--those instead assigned to chasing Russian subs around in circles underneath the Atlantic and/or Pacific Oceans (like my Son), or assigned anyplace else, or those who patrolled our Country's shorelines--supposedly weren't war heroes! That means our military personnel who were not stationed in Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia--but instead assigned in CONUS to help supply our troops and/or to help protect our homeland, or those stationed in other Countries or other seas around our World--supposedly weren't war heroes! If you really believe that, you need to speak to the Pentagon, as they classify ALL our Military personnel serving during a time of war as war heroes! No, they don't qualify for any Purple Hearts or some of the other medals, but how dare anyone claim they were not or are not heroes for putting their own lives on the line, every day, wherever courageous men and women in our Military, are stationed?! We don't have the right to penalize our servicemen and women for where someone else assigns them!
My Dad worked as a Civilian for our US Government 33+ yrs. at Army Depots here in America, and in Korea and Viet Nam (during the Viet Nam War). He didn't get any medals for providing support supply to our US Military serving overseas, despite putting his own life on the line while serving in Korea and Viet Nam. I'm curious, John. Would you say he wasn't a "war hero" for what he did? Would you dare say my service to my Country, working overseas in Germany, where Terrorists were blowing up my fellow Americans in car bombs, was not courageous or that of my Husband stationed there in the US Army? I am educated on the importance of providing support to our Military personnel, thanks to my Dad working at Army Depots and because I also worked for them.
Loyalty is very important to me, and I think your lack of loyalty to my President, stinks! That's why you aren't getting my vote, Senator McCain!
